Japanese band Zard's Izumi Sakai died yesterday (May 27) afternoon at the age of 40. She suffered from cervical cancer June last year and had an operation to remove its growth. In April 2007, it was discovered that the cancer had spread to her lungs and she was readmitted to hospital. She fell from an outdoor staircase about 3 meters high during a usual walk in the morning of May 26. She was discovered at 5:40 JST, and was rushed to emergency room. Suffering from a serious head inquiry, she died the following afternoon (May 27) and her management announced her death today (May 28) at 15:10.
