Canadian singer-songwriter Patrick Watson and his band played an exciting and amazing night at Grappa's Cellar last Friday night (January 15). Members of this 4-piece band are multi-talented and brought huge excitement to the show. The band added various effects on vocals and instruments, by playing the guitar with a toothbrush or balloon, or drumming on the guitar neck.Among these, the unforgettable moment came when the lead singer wore a suit of megaphone on his back and sang from there. He even walked around with the suit on, and it was like watching a sci-fi musical.
During the second encore, the singer told the audience that wherever they play a gig, they would borrow the best title from the audience as the title of an improvisation number. The audience screamed out titles from "Chocolate Jesus" to "Chá Cān Tīng" (stands for "local restaurant" in Cantonese), but it was "Chungking Mansions" that made the title. After two hours of performance, the show ended around midnight.
