After rumours of the band would sign to Live Nation, home to Madonna and Jay-Z now, The Rolling Stones chose to sign a deal with Universal.

Speaking to BBC News, a spokesperson of Universal claimed the deal is "exclusive, long-term, worldwide".

In a press release by The Rolling Stones, it said, "Universal are forward thinking, creative and hands-on music people. We really look forward to working with them."

The band last worked with Universal with their live soundtrack album to the Martin Scorsese-directed tour documentary film Shine A Light. The band's last three studio albums were released via Virgin Records/EMI.
