Edith Piaf (1915 - 1963) was one of France's most beloved singers. Her music reflected her tragic life, with her specialty being the poignant ballad presented with a heartbreaking voice. The most famous songs performed by her were "La Vie En Rose" (1946), "Milord" (1959), and "Non, Je Ne Regrette Rien" (1960).

The film La Vie En Rose (or La Mome in France) tells the life story of the legendary Eidth Piaf. Marion Cotillard (A Good Year, Big Fish, A Very Long Engagement, Love Me If You Dare) plays the Little Sparrow in the film. To keep the performances true to her distinctive voice, director Olivier Dahan (Crimson Rivers 2: Angels Of The Apocalypse, Tom Thumb) uses the original recordings of her signature songs in the film.

For the film's score, British composer and winner of three BAFTA awards and three Ivor Novello awards Christopher Gunning was invited to take up the job. He made use of piano, accordion and orchestra to bring out the sadness for the film.

The soundtrack album also features three songs by Jil Aigrot, who plays the singing voice for Marion Cotillard in the film.
