Tonya Harding is the first American woman to successfully land a triple Axel in competition, and she is also famous for her linkage to the attack on her rival Nancy Kerrigan, and I, Tonya is trying to give a dark comedic dissection of Harding's life.

Margot Robbie plays the uncompromising Tonya, Allison Janney plays Tonya's witching abusive mother who pushes her to train in figure skating and Sebastian Stan plays Tonya's on and off, and often abusive, ex-husband.
