Moonlight 2016

'Moonlight' chronicles the life of a young black man, Chiron, from childhood to adulthood. The first two chapters of the film dive into Chiron's school years, where he faces various problems in life - being bullied at school and neglected by drugs addict single mother - and he can only find peace in all this with his childhood friend Kevin and a crack dealer/father figure Juan. The final chapter sees Chiron reconciled with Kevin after certain event in high school.

It is a heart-breaking story that you would feel for Chiron - a black man who cannot escape the tragical life cycle because the environment and situation he lives in. Watching the first two chapters will make you understand a lot about the school bully problem in America and how helpless the victim would feel. The ending is fulfilling and shines some silver linings onto his life. Good story progress pacing and not to mention a great performance from 3 pairs of main characters.
