The Flash

Published Published 10 months ago by Leslie Cheung

Notice: The following review contains spoilers to The Flash. Please come back after watching the film out in cinema now.

The DCEU is going, and The Flash provides some last hurrah to this troubled but well-casted franchise. The cameos by Ben Affleck and Gal Gadot are so great and reminder that this is the last time we see the DCEU Batman and Wonder Woman together, and shame they do not have Henry Cavill back for one last time so the trinity can share the screen together.

The story is an emotional journey for Barry Allen (Ezra Miller) to travel back in time to save his mother from dying, and breaking the history timeline while doing so. Ezra Miller has done a great job to present two different takes of Barry Allen - a mature older one who has been a member of Justice League for years, and a young, impulsive version of himself. Michael Keaton back as the Caped Crusader is awesome as we all expect. The film carries over the unique visual staple of DCEU effects, and it does not shy away to make fun of it even by saying we have to watch that awesomeness in slow motion. The climax act bringing out Nicolas Cage is the biggest surprise for us (we even screamed in the cinema). The final theatrical version also includes George Clooney as Bruce Wayne is a fun moment.

Among all these, The Flash proves DCEU is not perfect but still great in establishing the epic of DC characters and mythology.
