James Cameron Announces Four <strong><em>Avatar</em></strong> Sequels

Director James Cameron announced at CinemaCon today that he is making 4 sequels for his 3D epic film Avatar (via The Verge), which are set to come out in Christmas 2018, 2020, 2022 and 2023. Avatar 2 was first target for Christmas 2016 release, then 2017 and now 2018.

"It's going to be a true epic saga that's told in this rich and complex world," he says. In the meantime, an Avatar theme park is in the works with Disney and Dark Horse Comics will release spin-off graphic novels to accompany you awaiting for the first sequel to arrive.
