Swiss surrealist painter, sculptor, and set designer, Hans Rudolf "Ruedi" Giger, aka H. R. Giger has passed away yesterday (May 12) at the age of 74 after injuries suffered in a fall.

His works include cover artworks for Emerson, Lake & Palmer's 1973 album Brain Salad Surgery, Debbie Harry's 1981 solo album Koo Koo, set designs for Alejandro Jodorowsky's ill-fated Dune, Poltergeist II (1986), Species (1995), and most famously, the monster in Alien.
