The Metroplex Site Visit

Last month, we visited the now newly-opened The Metroplex cinema at KITEC. Target at luxury cinematic experience, the cinema consists of 9 houses (including 3 VIP houses), providing over 1,100 seats, and a VIP lounge, which is connected to VIP House 9. Each house is equipped with digital 3D and 4K projectors, with Dolby Digital 7.1 or Atmos sound systems, which we think are what we movie-goers want!

Before the set visit started, here are some looks at the lobby, box office and concession counter.

... and a closer look to the floor plan; the visit would take us to Houses 1, 5 and VIP Houses 7, 9 and the VIP lounge

The entrance, aka time tunnel, acts like a portal to the imaginary cinematic world

And it led us to House 5, which is a middle-sized house; together with House 6, they are aimed at indie or genre films

Then we arrived at House 1, which is the biggest house, providing 430 seats. This is aimed at hosting events like premiere galas.

This is VIP House 7, which carries the purple colour theme with 20 seats for cosy private moments. Each VIP houses carry different colour themes.

You can adjust the angle of the seating by these two buttons.

... and now you can lie on your back and relax and enjoy your favourite film.

Food box for VIP movie goers. During festive moments, the cinema's own banquet team would prepare different kind of desserts like the heart-shaped molten chocolate here.

We also went back to watch RoboCop at House 1 after it's launched, and it is very comfortable to sit on those leather chairs and the sound system is really powerful even for a hall that large. We are sure more and more people would visit it when it provides more non-mainstream choices in the future, especially it is one of the participating venue of the upcoming HKIFF.
