Leopardi 2014
Plot Synopsis
A sumptuous biopic about Italy's greatest 19th-century poet and rebel Giacomo Leopardi, who is a child prodigy with ill health and a bone deformation. He grows up under the relentless gaze of his father, in a house that is a library. His mind travels far but his home is a prison. When he finally leaves Recanati, he doesn't fit in to Italy's high society. In Florence, he becomes entangled in a love triangle between Antonio Ranieri, his Neapolitan friend, and the beautiful Fanny. Finally, he moves to Naples and cholera breaks out: Giacomo and Ranieri complete the last stage of their long journey, toward a villa at the foot of Vesuvius.
