A gaudily bohemian mother, Babou (Isabelle Huppert), has become an embarrassment to her conservative daughter Esmerelda. When Esmerelda is too ashamed to invite Babou to her wedding, the carefree soul decides to hunker down with a steady (and boring) job to try and change her ways.
