Alfred Brendel, Pierre Laurent-Aimard, Lang Lang: all acclaimed virtuoso pianists. But they also must rely on one man: Stefan Knüpfer, chief technician and Master Tuner from piano maker Steinway. Like the musicians, Knüpfer is obsessed with finding the perfect tone. Far from a documentary about the technicalities of pianos, this passionate, delightful and energetic film shows the relationship between the pianists and the technician with warmth and humour.
