Retired agent Bryan Mills left the secret service to stay near his seventeen year-old daughter Kim in California. Kim lives with her mother Lenore and her wealthy stepfather Stuart. Bryan reluctantly signs an authorisation to let Kim to travel to Paris with her friend Amanda. Soon after the pair arrive in Paris, they are kidnapped by a gang of human trafficking, and Kim succeeds in contacting her father. Bryan immediately travels to Paris to save his daughter and chase the criminal.
